I took a few educators, librarians and others on a tour of Second Life to showcase some fine examples of healthcare research and librarianship.
First stop was Info Island where the group toured via a sky car. We did lose a few from the group when they fell off but quickly rounded them up again!
From there we went to Health Info Island where Carolina Keats and Namro Orman conducted a tour of their areas, including Path of Support and the medical library, as well as Ivy Tech's nursing site. Then it was off to Ann Myers Medical Center where several docs, including Vladimir and Austin showed us their virtual ER. Here you can see Brielle listening to lung sounds. I think the patient had pneumonia for the demo. AMMC is a wonderful facility that trains RL medical students, residents and nurses. There is also a great women's clinic on site. Be sure to visit it!
It was a great morning and everyone learned that SL is more than just pretty clothes, great hair and dancing!
